By the 2000's modern technology was coming alive. Camera phones, Touch screen phones, Laptops, PC and PC Games, the Internet, Kindles and Kindle Devices and Apple Watches. All these devices are the modern technology that we have today. Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Sony and companies alike are all the companies responsible for these technologies. Without them we could possibly still be waiting on these things.

In 1993 Apple released the Newton Digital Assistant and was able to be handheld. It was usable by a pen-like writing utensil. It set the standard for future handheld computers and devices.
In 1980 the first high powered microprocessor that could be used for intense graphic program mostly used by engineers.
By 1971 the first compact scientific calculator was made by HP. This was the beginning of calculators being separate from computers. Calculators were much smaller and computers also become much smaller. The computers had different purposes now than just doing calculations. Calculators were made for calculations only and were handheld.
From 1960 and on was the start of PC's. First computers became usable by 1 person and made it more common at work and jobs for people. As the decade progressed more and more companies were focusing on the compact power of computers. They tried to make it smaller and smaller but keeping the power or increasing it. By the end of the decade computers were being sold for entertainment purposes along with work. Video games were coming out and music could also be played from computers.
In 1956 MIT started to mess around with direct inputs from keyboards into the computers. The first keyboards were used to make direct inputs into programs and computers.
The ENIAC was a computing system that could make calculations 1,000 times faster than before. It took up 1,000 square feet and had 18,000 vacuum tubes and also weighed 30 tons. It did more calculations in the 10 years it was used than ever before. It was truly the start of a steep advancement of computers for the next next few decades.
In 1948 the first program for the computer was tested and was ran on the first electronic RAM. It had 17 instructions written by Tom Kilburn.
In 1943 Bell Labs created their 'Bell Labs Model II' that was made to control large guns during World War 2 and was made programmable by paper so it was the first of it's kind to be used for other applications other than the initial purpose.
in 1938 Hewlett-Packard made their Oscillator that tested sound equipment. Disney ordered 8 of these to get ready to put Fantasia in theaters. With this, HP started and could start innovating and coming up with new ideas for equipment and inventions. Before this they were working out of their garage.
